This year’s lectures have begun. It is, however, still possible to apply for the European Tax College. Lectures 2009/2010 Design & Structures of Income Systems These lectures were delivered by Professor Graeme Cooper (AU) from 7 September to 17 September 2009. Prof. Cooper gave a general introduction on how to approach income tax systems in general. Value Added Tax Professor Herman van Kesteren (NL) delivered several lectures spread between 22 September and 12 October 2009. This course mainly focused on VAT, but also Customs were discussed during this course. The VAT exam will take place on 30 October 2009. International Taxation Lectures on International Taxation will be delivered by Professor Eric Kemmeren (NL). Prof. Kemmeren will discuss topics like the allocation of profits to permanent establishments. This course will be lectured between 30 September and 17 November 2009. The exam will take place on 9 December 2009. European Taxation Professor Frans Vanistendael (BE) will deliver lectures on European Taxation, where he will discuss, among other, some cases from the European Court of Justice. This subject will be delivered between 6 and 26 November, with the exam on the 15 January 2010. World Tax Systems This course is divided in different lectures provided by different lecturers from across the globe. Professor Joachim Englisch will start by lecturing on the German Tax System on 26 and 27 October 2009. Tax systems from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands and the Netherlands Antilles, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland will be discussed in the following lectures. The selection for the EUCOTAX Wintercourse 2009/2010 has also started, where the participating Universities will select their finest students in order to compare the tax law on “Equality and the Ability to pay” in Uppsala during the next spring.
