Frans Vanistendael
studied law, economics and philosophy at K.U.Leuven, Chicago and Yale. He obtained degrees in philosophy (1962), law (1966) and notarial sciences (1967) from K.U.Leuven, an LL.M. from Yale (1969) and his JSD in taxation again from K.U.Leuven (1977). He has been professor of taxation at K.U.Leuven since 1972 and a member of the Brussels Bar since 1974. He has been royal commissioner of tax reform in Belgium and expert consultant to the EU, the IMF and the OECD, with many missions in Eastern Europe, Central and East Asia. He has been visiting professor at Kansai (Osaka), Melbourne and Sydney. He is chairman of the EC Tax Review, consult ant to Tax Notes International and member of the Board of Trustees of the IBFD (Amsterdam).
