Kees Van Raad
is Professor of International Tax Law at the University of Leiden (the Netherlands) and Chairman of the Leiden Institute of International and Comparative Tax Law. After obtaining his law degree from Leiden, and a postgraduate degree from Georgetown University, he worked for several years at the International Division of the Netherlands Ministry of Finance. In 1986 he obtained a doctorate in law (dissertation: Non-discrimination in International Tax Law (Kluwer, 1986) and was appointed to a chair in Leiden. In addition to his teaching (including the Leiden LL.M. Program in International Taxation), researching and supervising doctoral dissertations in Leiden, he serves as a judge at a Netherlands tax court specializing in international cases, and acts as an outside consultant to (tax) law firms.
