Danny Pieters
obtained his degree in law from KU Leuven in 1979 and his PhD degree in 1985. He was i.a. researcher with the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research. He was professor in Dutch, comparative, European and international social security law at Tilburg University. Since 1988 he has been director of the ERASMUS and TEMPUS programmes 'Social Security in Europe'. Since 1988 he is professor in Belgian public law at KU Leuven, also teaching Belgian social law and European social security law. Since 1999 he has been a Member of the Belgian federal Parliament.
